About
At a young age, Nathan Williams began making maple syrup with his father and brother. Each year, as late winter/early spring days made way to warmer temperatures, they would tap the maple trees and gather the sugary sap. The sugarhouse would be inviting, with the warmth of the evaporator boiling sap, the sight of steam escaping out the cupola and the smell of sweet syrup in the air. But the true reward for their hard work was the delicious taste. As they grew, the boys would return each season to make syrup with their Dad.
In 2013, Nate married his longtime sweetheart, Cristy, and a seed of thought was planted in their minds. The two decided to plant some roots in their hometown, with the hope of creating a tradition of their own. They wanted their days to be filled with sap tanks and syrup jugs, so they took a leap and went all in.
They purchased a piece of property with acres of untapped potential on Woodmancy Road and added their first section of tubing, dreaming of the day they’d have a sugarhouse there.
Over the years, they watered that seed of thought with love, patience and lots of hard work. It’s true what they say – from little seeds grow mighty trees. They’ve been continually amazed to watch their seed bloom. In the 2023 season, Dutch Hill Maple tapped over 8,300 trees and made over 5,000 gallons of maple syrup (a DHM record)!
In 2022, they built the sugarhouse they had always dreamed of and invite you to visit and experience their sweet life. See where everything begins – the trees! Learn all about the journey sap takes on its way to becoming maple syrup. Find out how they have introduced modern day technology into the sugarbush and discover the equipment used to get to the finished product. And of course, taste for yourself.
